What is needed to get a website up and running?

Under The Hood…

The main components of a website are your domain name, your host and the website design/development.

If we compare your website to a car, this is how it works …

Domain Name (license Plate): Identifies the website; for instance, www.yourpagetoday.com

Registrar (Registry of Motor Vehicles): Where you register your domain name. This is typically a yearly fee (approximately $8 to $18 a year).

Host (Garage): Much like where you keep your car, this is where all the files for your website lives, the pages, images, etc. This is typically a monthly fee (approximately $10 to $15 a month).

Design (Body): The kind of car you have; do you want a Pinto or Porsche? We customize a look that speaks volumes about your business.

Website Pages (The Engine!): The heart of the website (in terms of search visibility) Remember Google LOVES content, the more you have the better. The more often you add it the better! (we offer content writing in some of our web development packages)

Keep it running! Maintenance (Car Maintenance): Just like getting regular oil changes, without this the website (just like a car) will eventually stop running! (and your rankings WILL fall) Keep the website going strong and keep your Google rankings up once you get them with regular maintenance.

Blog Writing and SEO (Gas/Fuel): Powers your rankings on search engines! Just like a car race … the one with the best engine and upkeep takes the lead!!

We do the hard work so you have more time to run your business!

Our Process:

Consultation: During our initial consultation we will discuss and establish your web site goals and the purpose of your web site. We will either interview you to gather this information or have you fill out this form:

Please consider the following questions prior to our meeting:

  • Do you plan on using your web site as a lead generator?
  • Who is your target audience?
  • Will your web site have a call to action?
  • Would you like your clients or prospective clients to call you, e-mail you, fill out a form, visit you etc..?
  • Do you plan on using your web site as an informational tool only?
  • Is your web site an online tool for your clients?
  • Who are your top 5 competitors?

Setting Up: Prior to the design and development of your web site, we make sure that you own a domain name and have a hosting company for your web site. Assistance is available for domain name registration and the purchase of a hosting package, both of which are the clients responsibility. If you need help, we can assist you in getting this set up.

Site Design: We begin this phase by gathering as much information from you as possible pertaining to your design preferences, your likes and dislikes within a web page layout. We ask that you provide examples of web sites that you like the look and style of. We then work with you to create a site map, your site map is a simple list of the pages that will be contained in your new web site. We then sketch a site layout this will help us determine the positioning of the most important elements on your web site, for example your main navigation, your logo, your content and more. Once we gather the necessary information we then develop a web page mock-up of what your site will look like. At this stage our designer will work closely with you to develop the look that will be visually pleasing user friendly and strategically compliments your goals.

The Demo: After the initial mock-up is designed, we will send you a working demo link where you may review the design and request any changes you would like. After any necessary revisions and upon approval of your design we then begin the development phase of your web site.

Content Provisioning: To eliminate any unnecessary delays we recommend that you have the majority of your copy or text written during the design phase of your project. We also offer content writing services for your convenience.

Web Development: After receiving your final approval on your mock-up, we will then begin developing the web site and web pages while incorporating the content that you provide. You may also provide any photos and images that you would like to use. We are happy to touch up any photos that need enhancing.

Pre-launch Evaluation: After the site is built you will be able to view your site to make sure that everything is exactly how you want it. At this point you may submit any desired changes to copy and then give final approval before the site goes live.

Going Live: After your final approval and submission of your final payment of invoice, we finalize the optimization of the website for search visibility then we take the site live.
