TIP 1:
How to Minimize Spam

Some of you may be wondering, what is spam? While others are thinking, I am sick and tired of all of this spam! So lets start at the beginning, Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it. Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products, get-rich-quick schemes, or some other stuff you just don't need!

How are these jerks getting your email, you may be wondering?
Email spam lists are often created by scanning forum or blog postings, stealing Internet mailing lists, or searching the Web for addresses.

So what does this mean?
It means that while you cannot stop spam 100%, there ARE some things that you can do to minimize the amount of spam you receive.

Practice these tips and tricks and you should see your spam minimized greatly:

1: When you subscribe to a forum/blog and post a message, leave your email anonymous to the readers so that they cant add your email to their spam list.

2: Don't subscribe to someone's email list unless they promise not to sell or spam your email address!!

3: Hide your email address from spam harvesting robots online! WHAT the heck does this mean?? It means that not all of the spam you are receiving is directly from a human! It means that there are programs written that are launched and automatically grab your email address from your web site! It means that if your email address is hidden, then unless you are a human and can see the email or copy and paste the email, then those bots cant see it. Hiding your email wont stop spam, again some email harvesters are human ...hiding email wont stop them, but MOST are bots!

OK so how do I hide it? If you are the one that manages your web site, and you are tech savvy enough to get into your web page code,(html) then you can do this your self, otherwise, give your web developer a call and have them do it for you.
Go to this web site: http://www.mways.co.uk/prog/hidemail.php then follow the directions on the page and add the code generated to your site anywhere you will have a contact link!!
It will end up looking something like this: For questions about this tip email me now!

TIP 2:
How do I get rid of Malware?

Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system, without the owner's informed consent. Malware should not be confused with defective software, that is, software which has a legitimate purpose but contains harmful bugs. Along with viruses, it's one of the biggest threats to computer users on the Internet today. It can hijack your browser, redirect your search attempts, serve up nasty pop-up ads, track what web sites you visit, and generally screw things up. Malware programs are usually poorly-programmed and can cause your computer to become unbearably slow and unstable in addition to all the other havoc they wreak.
Many malware programs will reinstall themselves even after you think you have removed them, or hide deep within Windows, making them very difficult to find or remove at al.

How does malware get on my computer? You can get infected in several ways. Malware often comes bundled with other programs (Kazaa, iMesh, limewire, and other file sharing programs seem to be the biggest threats). Most malware programs usually come from pop-up ads, the second they are clicked, send malicious code directly to your computer.

Others are installed from web sites, pretending to be software needed to view the web site. Still others, most notably some of the CoolWebSearch variants, install themselves through holes in Internet Explorer like a virus would, requiring you to do nothing but visit the wrong web page to get infected!

The vast majority, however, must be installed by the user. Unfortunately, getting infected with malware is usually much easier than getting rid of it, and once you get malware on your computer it tends to multiply.

Tip: It is very common for people to use the words adware, spyware, and malware interchangeably. Most products that call themselves spyware or adware removers will actually remove all types of malware.

How do I get rid of it!? Instead of doing an internet search to find a good malware removing tool, because you just might get more malware that way, from a tool pretending to remove malware! We have done the research for you! This one is what we recommend as the best one! They have a free and a pay for version. We highly recommend the pay for version if you have a lot of malware or are at higher risk for it. Its especially good for those of you (us) who manage and develop web sites! YES malware can get onto YOUR web site just by updating it! Time to get protected, visit this site for your free download, don't worry its safe!

Malwarebytes - This anti spyware software is one of the best. It has a high detection rate. It would usually remove about 95% malware from the computer.

We also recommend: Adaware- 10 years of malware experience combined in one dynamic application. Ad-Aware - Anniversary Edition offers radically improved performance and efficiency, along with comprehensive malware protection. With real-time monitoring, threat alerts, and automatic updates you can rest easy knowing that you are protected.

TIP 3:
How do they get that icon in the url??
That’s called a favicon !
A favicon file is an image that web site designers use to replace the image that is displayed next to the URL in the browser window.
See…
icon_dwnld.jpg
Creating these can be a bit tricky because of the size restrictions on these files. A complete favicon can only be 16 X 16 pixels. That is a pretty small area to work in, so you have to be really creative.

We recommend using illustrator to create a .gif file and then convert it with .ico conversion software (link below…keep reading), you can also use Photoshop with a plug in to create the .ico file right from Photoshop. (Without the plug in, you need a converter.)

If you want to use Photoshop, the first thing you need to do is get this free Photoshop plug-in that allows you to save your file as an .ico file. This is the file extension you must use to create this type of image. Click here:
to download the plug in.

Next you will want to create a new file in Photoshop and set it's pixel sizes to 64 X 64. This will give you a little room to work. You can then resize back to the 16 X 16 when you are done.
If you don’t have Photoshop or don’t want to bother with the plug-in, you can use this link to take your image (a .gif file) file and convert it to a favicon:  http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/
Almost there!!!

THEN, put this line of code in the html of any page that you want to display the icon on, and replace the “YPTfavicon.ico” with the name of YOUR favicon, which is usually “favicon.ico”
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" />

The final step is to put the fav icon in the root of your site, then put the web pages that added that cone into on the server and your done. Then refresh the web page and its there! Cool eh?
Happy favicon-ing!

TIP 4:
Facebook Tip of the Month!

How to Place Facebook Chat On Firefox Sidebar! ...neat!

Facebook Chat is cool, at least it allows you to send instant messages to online Facebook contacts. However I’m not really a fan of the chat bar being at the bottom of the page, what if I’ve left Facebook but still want to remain chatting? If you are using Firefox, you can place the Facebook Chat right on the sidebar!
